Use the following table to determine which of the six categories you fall into and to assess if your anger is a problem.

If for example you scored a 5 for intensity of your anger and a 7 for frequency you would fall into the "Chronic Anger" category.

The following statistics were taken from a community sample of 284 people

Episodic irritation

Roughly 25% of the sample fell into this category and if you do your anger is not a problem

Episodic anger

36% get angry a couple of times a week but let it go fairly easily and if you do your anger is not a problem

Episodic rage

The sleeping lions group - This is a problem anger which about 15% of the sample fell into. Not aroused often but when they are watch out

Chronic irritation

Only 2% fall into this category. It is not much of a problem but you may be seen as moody or bitchy.

Chronic anger

11% of people surveyed fell into this category which is a problem. It may not get to the level of rage but it is not healthy to get angry this often

Chronic rage

This is the worst case scenario for problem anger. 12% 0f people fell into this category. If you fall into this category your anger is likely poisoning every aspect of your life and is dangerous.
